At Kayenta Boarding School, we believe athletics are essential to student growth and development. Our athletics program instills teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being while promoting character-building and sportsmanship.
Sports Programs
Students at Kayenta Boarding School participate in sports through two tailored programs:
- SOAR Program (Kindergarten – 4th Grade)
- NAIC Athletics Program (4th – 8th Grade)
SOAR Program (Kindergarten – 4th Grade)
The SOAR Program introduces our youngest students to athletics in a fun and engaging way. The program focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, and the joy of participation.
Sports by Quarter:
- Quarter 1: Pee Wee Flag Football, Pee Wee Volleyball
- Quarter 4: Pee Wee Basketball
The SOAR program is designed to encourage participation, promote physical activity, and cultivate the love of sports in our youngest athletes.
NAIC Athletics (4th – 8th Grade)
Older students at Kayenta Boarding School participate in the Northern Arizona Interscholastic Conference Program, which emphasizes:
- Skill development
- Healthy competition
- Teamwork and sportsmanship
NAIC promotes healthy competition and academic excellence, aligning with its mission to develop:
- Sportsmanship
- Citizenship
- Character in student-athletes
The program operates on the principle of inclusion, encouraging maximum participation from eligible students and allowing all students to play.

- 1st Quarter: Cross Country
- 2nd Quarter: Volleyball
- 3rd Quarter: Basketball (Boys & Girls)
- 4th Quarter: Baseball, Softball, Track and Field
