Joseph Hall at Kayenta Boarding School provides a safe, structured and welcoming environment where students can grow academically, socially and emotionally. Designed to feel like a home away from home, our residential program emphasizes the importance of personal responsibility, safety and mutual respect.

Building Life Skills and Academic Success

At Joseph Hall, students develop critical life skills, such as accountability, time management, and social-emotional intelligence. Through structured routines and consistent support, students build confidence and develop habits that set them on the path to academic and personal success.

A Supportive Community

Residential life at Joseph Hall is rooted in a sense of community. Students participate in school-sponsored activities, both on and off campus, that broaden their perspectives and strengthen their connections with peers and staff. Our diverse and inclusive environment ensures that every student feels supported in reaching their full potential.

Vision

At Joseph Hall, we provide a safe and supportive home environment where students develop strong study habits and a positive outlook on education. By teaching the value of positive behavior, we help students improve their self-esteem, coping skills, life skills and educational processes.

Mission

Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to develop life skills, gain academic knowledge and enhance their out-of-classroom experiences to prepare them for future success.

Accountability

Students are expected to follow structured accountability procedures, including six daily check-ins, roll calls, bed checks and the use of passes. Residential staff ensure all students are accounted for and adhere to safety protocols if a student is unaccounted for.

Attendance

Regular attendance is crucial for success. Students who are absent from the dormitory for 10 consecutive days without a valid doctor’s statement will be automatically withdrawn. Due to limited space, re-enrollment may require placement on a waiting list.

Students are encouraged to attend school daily and must be present during ISEP Count Weeks in October and May. Attendance during these weeks ensures funding that supports the home-living program.

Handbook Policies

The Residential Handbook outlines the rules, procedures and consequences for violations that align with the Academic Student Handbook. Policies are consistently enforced across both departments.

Students at Joseph Hall are part of a secure and enriching residential environment that supports their academic and personal growth. By providing access to engaging activities, personalized resources and a dedicated staff, Kayenta Boarding School inspires students to take pride in their accomplishments and prepare for a successful future.
